Classroom Guidelines
This page is a reference for both students and parents. You will be referred to this frequently. This is some of the most useful material on this page. I like to refer to this as our employee handbook; hopefully all of you treat this as a job to ensure you are successful.
These are procedures that we will introduce and practice in class. However, these videos are an amazing reference. These can answer questions about grades, makeup work, and so much more!
This covers basic rules and consequences. There are also notes.
Homework Policy
Homework is still expected at the due date unless other arrangements have been made. Late work policy will be enforced.
The late work coupon may be used any time in the quarter, until the end of quarter cut off. They will NOT be worth extra credit any longer.
I try to offer a multitude of practice opportunities with each unit, in the hopes that these can be useful when demonstrating mastery on the assessment. Each student needs different amounts of practice. Therefore, homework is optional. They may do as much as they choose or they could choose none or somewhere in between.
I will assess ALL of these up to 1 day before the test, to ensure mastery. These are useful when preparing for assessments. If students do not want to receive the feedback, assignments are due the day of the assessment (if they choose to complete any).
There will be approximately 4 grade slots in JMC with each unit. There will likely be more than 4 practice opportunities, but I don't want to inflate grades. These will likely have generic titles, as students will choose a variety of different options (I'm still perfecting this portion). If students choose not to do homework, there will not be zeros or missing (Mi) in JMC.
Students may see lower assessment scores if they need more practice than they chose. They are welcome to correct tests, but ALL practice opportunities must be completed at a satisfactory level.

I am attempting to phase out Bears. There will be a place to sign out for restrooms and lockers. I will contact home if I feel it is interfering with your learning. If you are disruptive in the hallway, you will lose privileges to be in the hallway.
I will hand out Late Work Coupons in class. If you are absent, it is your responsibility to get those from me (regular makeup work policy follows). There will be information when you grab your makeup work. |
1. Don't forget to write absent or makeup work at the top of your page
2. Instead of printing the sheets, I now post them on Google Classroom at the end of the day.
3. Your "clip" will have any handouts on it (please remember, no handout does not mean no makeup work!)
4. Don't sign unless you understand what you need to do in order to get caught up.

Both of these are great places to start if you need to fix your grade!
- Students are expected to communicate special circumstances.
- If a student fail to complete work on time, they are encouraged to fill out and take home a yellow sheet.
- Even if it is too late to receive credit, students are encouraged to complete missing work. This is always better than taking a zero.
- If a student does not complete enough work, they cannot expect to pass.
